Kingston Beach is a popular beach, and for a good reason. It offers locals a place for a leisurely stroll along the sand while admiring the beautiful view at sunrise. A paved path parallel to the beach allows families with children to ride their bikes or scooters, dog lovers to walk their canines or an alternative walking track for those who prefer not to walk on the sand.
Alum Cliffs Track begins at the northern end of Kingston Beach. The track climbs from Tyndall Beach (adjacent Kingston Beach and is also known as “The Dog Beach” by locals) through a coastal blue-gum forest with tall silver banksias.
Dining and cafes
Along the Kingston Beach Esplanade is The Salty Dog. It has a fantastic beer garden equipped with outdoor seating and a grass area with bean bags and picnic tables – the perfect place for a delicious Australian meal with family and friends. Go for lunch, dinner or an evening drink after a leisurely summer bike ride with friends.
Next to Salty Dog, you will find Zero81 Napoli, an Italian bar and restaurant run by husband and wife Matteo and Juliana. Bring your family and friends and share the love of authentic Italian food. Follow them on Facebook for live music and what’s happening. Search their delicious menu - with gluten-free options, a kid's menu, and pizza and pasta galore; you and your whole family will undoubtedly find your favourite cuisine.
Robbie Browns is the best of both worlds. Wake up to a quality local produce breakfast from their seasonal menu, or set in for a cosy dinner with your family or friends. Later, head over to their award-winning Robbie Browns Bar, where they offer an ever-changing beer and wine menu. Offering outside and inside seating, you will find your favourite spot throughout our Tasmanian seasons.
If you want to invite the whole family to the beach for lunch and soak up some rays, you can use the local BBQ and picnic facilities near the beach playground. The playground on the sand has tall timber swings and a rope climbing frame for kids to test their balance skills.
